Agriculture Coordination Meeting, 22-25 December 2025

The Department of Agriculture is organizing a four-day Coordination Meeting from 22–25 December 2025 at the Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC), Bajo, Wangdue Phodrang. The meeting aims to harmonize actions across the sector to effectively achieve the goals and targets of the 13th Five Year Plan (FYP).

The primary objectives of the meeting are to discuss the Department’s 13th FYP annual targets and key deliverables for FY 2025–2026 and FY 2026–2027; strengthen research, extension, and support services; review and update ongoing and planned activities; and develop the annual work plan and budget for FY 2026–2027.

Participants include Dzongkhag Agriculture Officers from all 20 Dzongkhags, Program Directors from the Agriculture Research and Development Centres (NCOA-Yusipang, ARDC-Bajo, ARDC-Wengkhar, and ARDC-Samtenling), central programs (NSSC, NPPC, NSC, NMC, and AMTC), commodity coordinators, and officers from the Department of Agriculture HQ.

The Hon’ble Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, graced the meeting on 24 December 2025 and interacted with the Dzongkhags Agriculture Officers and Program Directors of the Department of Agriculture. The Hon’ble Secretary reiterated the Ministry’s strategic priorities under the 13th FYP, with emphasis on policy reforms, sustainable financing, and effective implementation. He highlighted key initiatives including major legislative reforms, Food and Nutrition Security Policy 2023, Agri-Food Strategy 2024-2034, and the shift towards high-value and export-oriented agriculture, with a target to increase exports to Nu. 6 billion by 2029. He further underscored the importance of the Cost Sharing Mechanism 2025, National Crop and Livestock Insurance Scheme, Farmer Registration System which will be used for providing agriculture subsidies and politing of foreign day labour. The Hon’ble Secretary also highlighted the on-going activities such as Yarjugang OAP farm, Million Fruit Tree Plantations (MFTP), irrigation, Chainlink, Chirup farms, and major projects (RNR Jobs, BRECSA, GEF-8, ADB, EU and others) within the MoAL.
