School Agriculture Program

The School Agriculture Program (SAP) will operate within the broad mandates and functions of Agriculture Production Division (APD).

The specific Terms of Reference (ToR) for the section are as detailed below.

Policy, Strategy& Guidelines

  • The program will develop, review and propose policies and strategies related to school agriculture program including feeding program and food fortification.
  • The program will develop, review and propose Guidelines for the implementation of SAP.

Planning & Resource Mobilization

  • The program will lead the co-ordination and planning of SAP and activities in collaboration with School education program under the Department of Education.
  • The program will conduct thematic and strategic studies to identify critical issues affecting SAP.
  • The program will lead the development of project proposals or concept notes for submission to the Ministry and potential donor agencies for possible funding.

Implementation

  • The program will take lead in coordinating the implementation of annual and Five year plans and programs.
  • The program will facilitate implementation of projects related to SAP.
  • The program will collaborate with relevant agencies, especially with the Ministries of Education and Health in implementing joint or collaborative programs and activities particularly school feeding program.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge/Information Management

  • The program will lead quarterly and annual monitoring of the implementation of agreed work plan and monitoring schedule.
  • The program will lead quarterly progress report compilation, submission and presentation to the Division.
  • The program will compile reports and articles for publication in the annual report of the Department.

Institutional Linkages

  • The program will develop linkages and liaise with relevant agencies within the DoA and outside for technical assistance, expertise and capacity building.
