Inauguration of new Warehouse and Farm store at Jewphu and Bondey Farm, NSC,Paro

On 1st August 2025, The JICA, Bhutan Office and the National Seed Center jointly  commemorated the successful inauguration and handing-taking of the newly constructed JICA-funded Fruit plants warehouses at Jewphu and  Bondey Farm under the iNTECrop (Integrated Fruit Crops Promotion Project) JICA project. This milestone marks a significant step forward in strengthening the center’s  infrastructure and ensuring quality seedling supply to the farming community.

The integrated warehouse at Jewphu has office space, seedlings store, farm tool store, farm inputs store,  farm machinery and tractor garage, compost compartment and has facilitated  enhancing proper seedling storage capacity, quality maintenance and  smooth delivery of the seedling across the country. Apart from the financing on structure development, the project primarily centered on the enhancement of quality of temperate fruit crops with farm land development , farm structure improvement and technical capacity development together with market survey and analysis under SHEP (Smallholder Horticulture Empowerment and Promotion) approach which believes  on “Grow to sell “rather than “ Grow and sell”.

The inaugural ceremony was jointly graced by the Director, Department of Agriculture, MoAL  and the  Chief representative of JICA Bhutan office. Other Officials from JICA Bhutan office, Gup Lungyi gewog, CEO, FMCL, Program Heads of NCOA, AMTC, NPHC, Dzongkhag and Gewog Agriculture Officials, also attended the Inaugural program. The Director, DOA and the  Program Director, National Seed Center extended their heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Japan and JICA project for their unwavering support in the agriculture development works

These facilities at Jewphu and Bondey farm are significant for  the National Seed Centre to support quality seedling production, multiplication, proper storage, sorting, packing and distribution more effectively. As we celebrate this achievement, we also renew our commitment to ensuring optimal use and management of these infrastructures.
