The Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC Wengkhar), in partnership with the Commercial Agriculture and Resilient Livelihoods Enhancement Program (CARLEP-IFAD/MoAL, is offering a Skilling and Engagement Program on Mushroom Cultivation to promote farming as an enterprise, especially targeting youths. This program aims to provide knowledge and skills in mushroom farming and enterprise development.

Description: The training course includes both theoretical sessions and practical hands-on training on mushroom cultivation, with field visits to nearby commercial mushroom farms. It will equip participants with necessary knowledge and skills to establish a mushroom production farm on cost sharing mechanism.
After completing the skilling program, trainees will be encouraged to start their own commercial mushroom farming enterprises. ARDC Wengkhar, through CARLEP-IFAD/MoAL, will provide startup material support for mushroom production on a cost-sharing basis of 70:30, as per the Cost Sharing Mechanism Document. Technical support will also be provided during the establishment phase.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the trainees will be able to:
- Establish and manage a mushroom farm for production and sale.
- Learn about mushroom spawn production.
- Develop a business plan for mushroom farming and explore credit schemes for financing.
- Understand the stages and timing of mushroom harvesting.

Requirements: Interested candidates should be:
- Youths (women candidates are encouraged) from the targeted region (Mongar, Lhuentse, Trashigang, Yangtse, Pemagatshel and Samdrupjongkhar )
- Willing to start a mushroom cultivation enterprise soon after completing the training and become a commercial mushroom entrepreneur.
- Willing to invest 30% of the total enterprise cost through personal investment or credit schemes.
- Able to provide or arrange adequate space for establishing the farm.
- Without any loan defaults in their names with financial institutes.
- Eager to expand their skills and knowledge as aspiring youth entrepreneurs.
